A Little Piece of Kingston on NW 79th

Kingston Catch opened in 2014 when Devon and Paulette Malcolm decided Miami needed a fish shack that tasted like Devon's mother's kitchen in Portmore — not a tourist-menu version of Jamaican food, the real thing, cooked slow and seasoned like it means it.

The whole snapper gets scored, fried hard, and finished escovitch-style with pickled scotch bonnet, carrot, and pimento. The jerk goes on an actual drum out back on weekends. Rice and peas simmer in coconut milk all afternoon. Nothing here is rushed, and the fryer oil earns its keep.

We're a counter-service spot with a few picnic tables and a takeout window that gets a line by 6 PM on Fridays. Come for the fish, stay for Paulette telling you that you didn't order enough festival.
