Frequently Asked Questions

Can't find your answer? Give us a call — we're happy to help.

How spicy is the food?

The jerk and escovitch fish carry real scotch bonnet heat by default. If you can't handle spice, ask for it mild — we season to order on most dishes and the rice, mac & cheese, and plantain are never spicy.

Is anything halal or vegan?

Our jerk chicken is available halal on request — ask when you order. Rice & peas, steamed cabbage, callaloo, and fried plantain are all vegan; the beef patty and mac & cheese are not.

Do you take reservations?

We're counter-service with a few picnic tables — no reservations needed. Friday and Saturday nights get a line after 6 PM; call ahead and we'll have your order ready for pickup.

Is there parking?

A small lot behind the building plus street parking on NW 79th. It fills up on weekend nights — give yourself a few extra minutes.

Do you deliver?

We're on the major delivery apps for orders within about 5 miles. For anything further, or for catering-size orders, call the shop directly.

What's the difference between escovitch and brown stew fish?

Escovitch is fried whole and topped with a tangy pickled-vegetable relish. Brown stew is simmered in a dark, savory-sweet sauce until it falls off the bone. Can't decide? Escovitch is the crowd favorite.

Do you cater events?

Yes — drop-off trays for smaller gatherings and full-service with the jerk drum for bigger ones. See the Catering page or call to talk through your event.

Hungry Yet?

Call ahead for pickup or swing by — Friday and Saturday nights get busy after 6. Catering available for parties of 20 or more.
